LIC needs an Insurance themselves

LIC stands for Life Insurance Corporation of India

I could have spent time writing my biography. Instead, I am typing this post out. I am a LIC policy holder for the past 3 years. It so happened that the agent who had registered me, Anwar- DO-1, 9810609743, some 3 years back; didn’t pay the commission that was supposed to come to me. Nevermind.

I had approached him several times to update my address. He had kept insisting that the amount that comes as an interest after few years, would automatically go to my Bank Account. All he would talk about is I should settle down- asap. The last time I had talked to him some 2 years back and shut him off for good, he was more keen on showing me the pictures of prospective grooms. Since he was introduced through a common link, I couldn’t scream on him. Not that any was left of that.

Well, as it was ordained to happen; the cheque had gone back from my earlier residential address. Not a big deal- is it? He could always collect it and leave that at that common link’s place or me to re-collect.

Here’s the big deal.

I had tried to register with the LIC website today. The site takes practically ages to open up.

I wanted to change my address. Note how “Change Address” is above the Profile Information!!

Note how the "address change" box is above "update profile"

Clicking on “Address Change”, gives me a huge message saying this:

Address Change allows you to change the addresses of your policies. No detail is being seen because,

1) you might not have enrolled any policies.

2) the enrolled policies are yet to be VALIDATED or there is mismatch in Policy Date of Birth with Profile Date of Birth.

If you have not submitted the enrollment form to a branch office for verification, please do so.

  • REALLY..??

Don’t miss out on my Gender Information as uploaded on the website

My name, address and gender was already filled in. I am a woman. I had gladly started updating my profile. I had the option to over- ride my address there too..!!

No Single Names Please

There- again I am stuck up. The website doesn’t allow anyone to register with Single Name.. This is after I am a Policy Holder (as the jargon goes). If I am a Policy Holder with my Single Name itself; then how come, I am restricted to open up an account with the same name? For “who-ever’s” sake, I have submitted supporting documents reflecting my Single name.

User ID and Address have been "whitened". Note my Gender and an * at the Last Name field

LIC Offices are unreachable

I contacted all the numbers given on their website for Delhi. They either “don’t exist” or are “temporarily out of Service”.

Mumbai numbers are even better

  • 022-26766221.
  • After making you punch all your details and hold for 5 minutes on music..
  • Holding..
  • The IVR says that the information against my Policy Numbers isn’t available. Press 1 for any other a/c; 2 for no more account..
  • 2..
  • Thank You for calling (says the IVR and you are hung up)
  • @#$#^%#@#$$%

No help from anywhere

I call up Just Dial- 22222222; they give me a number of Zonal Office- 011-028844159. I call up the numbers provided. The man who answered the call was too hesitant to speak up. He was of no help; neither could he provide any other number.

I redial 8 times 2. 2 cell- numbers were provided-

  • 9210209904- No Response to Bell
  • 9811135393- Rajinder- Marketing Manager. He “suggested” that I call Just Dial and take Mumbai numbers. He didn’t have any. I had asked him if he knew how shameless he was- BLANK. I disconnected on him.

I have failed to talk to the LIC officers whereby they guarantee Insurances.. Just who would insure them against their malfunctions?

Anyone listening..?

Airtel Broadband’s Add- On Spouse Offer

Alright, this one happened to one of my Friends- why I am writing it then? Because I happen to be his Wife- at least on the AIRTEL CRM..!! or so his wife claims.

My friend’s wife would often call him & threaten him to book him under Bigamy. They have been staying separately for the past 10 yrs or so. She would claim that she has a Documentary Evidence wherein I have signed as Olivia, w/o (wife of) HIS NAME. This went on for about a few months till one day I thought of actually looking into the issue. Thank her for dropping in the mention of CRM. I asked him to call up Airtel customer care & ask them about who has been receiving Bills since he hasn’t been receiving them.

It was as if he opened a can of Worms. In the past 6 month’s record (that’s what they claim to only possess), his Bills were received by 3 of his different wives. It may be sounding awfully funny but by then his wife had actually press charges on him for POLYGAMY.. Thank heavens; no matter whatever CRM she had been harping upon, it dint have Olivia in the last 6 months record. The customer care executives would just not understand when he tried explaining few of them of his concern.

Now, I googled for the Sales Manager; found one in Surat, asked him the Delhi Sales Manager Number, called him posing to be potential corporate customer & after 7 days of their “trying to figure out”, the courier company was taken into loop. The POD Slip was obtained & there the “spouses” names were all written:

  • Reena (it was signed as RECD.) & then the courier boy himself wrote the relation to be wife
  • Guard – !! (he himself had received them with signatures; his name begins with R)
  • & also all their Domestics’ Name (…his “other” wives)

The Courier Company arranged to provide an apology letter which stated on the lines of- We understand that whatever happened is a big mistake; shall take care in future.. After a few editions & our insistence & non- acceptance of the same, we received a formal Apology Letter on Courier Company’s letter head.

It still remains a mystery how the lady could claim that she had the info about the CRM.

Needless to mention, we didn’t hear any acknowledgment from Airtel, much less an apology for the whole confusion. Practice perhaps.

So now, he is a happy man suggesting others to take up Airtel connection to get a few wives more; at least ON PAPER..

Airtel telling on us..

This Email was marked to care.ncr@airtel.in, nodal.ncr@airtel.in, &appellate.ncr@airtel.in on Monday, December 28, 2009 2:23 PM.. NO REPLIES HAVE BEEN RECEIVED TILL DATE EXCEPT FOR THE AUTO RECEIPT/DELIVERY OF OUR MAIL. Only a verbal apology from the collection agency, mind it this was when we had made an excess payment & nothing was due to them.
(Watch out for this space; I would post yet another AIRTEL Legend soon)

This is to put on record the nuisance that you so are to your customers

At the outset, I wish to mention that being in Service Industry, you lack Business Ethics..

  • The Nodal Officer’s contact numbers are perpetually busy; & hence remains UNCONTACTABLE FOR ALL TIMES
  • The Customer Service Reps can neither speak English nor understand Hindi..!!
  • Serving the customer, or attending to the customer never happens within the time period so followed by every other Telecom Company. & if that’s not enough, the reps don’t hesitate to lie to “make the customers happy” & then make the customer sadly realize the miserable condition that they so warmly put them in.

Here’s just one of my agonies with your Company:

  • 2 days back, 2 local looking guys in their early twenties kept ringing the Door Bell from the Building Gate without pause..
  • They completed their entire conversation screaming from the Ground Floor, I stay on the 2nd floor.
  • One of them had kept his helmet on like a shy teenage boyfriend who is aware of himself being at fault & hence ashamed to show his face & admit to be a man.
  • To say that this was far from being decent would be an understatement.
  • They kept insisting they were from Airtel (sic) & produced no document to justify or prove.
  • They claimed that our landline- 4378561 (Gurgaon) is disconnected!!
  • Upon retaliating rudely, they coughed up a cell number- 9210698395 & 9350657307.
  • Upon enquiry; it belonged to some Mr. Khan, from City Tradelink & those guys had come for “Recovery”; I fail to understand of what.
  • This was not only embarrassing for me as the entire Colony stood spectator to their behaviour & mannerisms of those chaps but also, humiliating to understand that being an Airtel customer I should be ready to subject myself to such non- sensical treatment by all & anyone.

Please understand that your failure to reply to this email communication with a justified explanation within 24 hrs, would only go against your Company as I won’t hesitate to forward my apathy to TRAI.

Really, don’t wish to write-
